Paul Ramer's Legacy

The original owner and founder of Zardoz was Paul Ramer, an avid backcountry skier, mountaineer and inventor. Paul was infamous for his zealousness and ingenuity, with several inventions that landed in the hands of avid snow sports enthusiasts across Colorado. He created prototypes of telescoping ski poles, specialty backcountry boots, avalanche beacons, and bullet proof binding systems.

The NOTwax was discovered by Paul in 1996 and as the product gained traction, he garnered the title "the mad scientist dude". Sadly, Paul never got to experience the success of his invention due to his passing in March 2000 because of a degenerative brain disease called Creutzfeldt-Jacob Disease. Paul Remer was only 56.

The inventor of the SuperLoop binding, Russel Rainey, said that Paul's promotion of backcountry skiing and the stuff he developed were his biggest contribution to the sport.
