Bones Skateboard Bearings have held a special place and status in the industry as one of the leading brands dedicated to providing high-quality products to their core market. It is one of the many companies distributed by Skate One, owned and operated by Bones founder, George Powell.

Having over three decades in business, Bones' initial offering was their Swiss-made bearings that were custom-made for the company. To this day, they still have Swiss bearings with the addition of China-made bearings, the Bones REDS which are priced lower but do not cut corners when it comes to quality.

Like most skate brands in the industry, Bones also offer other products such as apparel (hoodies, t-shirts, sweaters, snapback caps), accessories (bearings retainers, replacement shields, stickers, bearings tool, spacers, cleaning unit, speed cream lubricant, speed washers), and media (Class of 2000 with bonus footage).

The company has a vast list of team riders that have tested and currently use Bones bearings on a regular basis. Powell-Peralta and the Bones Brigade

George Powell founded his skateboard company in 1976 after working in the aerospace industry. He searched all over the US and Europe for a manufacturer that would create affordable skate bearings. He found one in Switzerland and worked with them in designing the ideal bearings for skateboarders.

In 1978, he teamed up with world champion skateboarder Stacy Peralta to create a team that would promote skateboarding and their products. The team was named Bones Brigade and it became the launch pad that catapulted the careers of its skaters such as Mike McGill, Tony Hawk, Lance Mountain, Kevin Harris, Alan Gelfand, Steve Caballero, Rodney Mullen and Tommy Guerrero, among many others. As a result, these skateboard legends helped Powell-Peralta become successful and introduced skateboarding video genre to the world.

However, the skateboard industry's landscape changed over the next few years and the company have experienced both highs and lows during those times. The Bones Brigade have mostly disbanded during the late 80's, but George revamped his company and refocused on improving standard skateboard components.

Today, George is busier than ever and focuses mainly on research and development of skate products under his conglomerate. The design and production of affordable Bones bearings is just one of the numerous achievements he accomplished for the brand.
